Roger Lee Memorial Fund

January 4, 1963 – January 4, 2017

Roger learned to ski at 9 years old through the Hoffman Elementary School PTA Ski Program. He had a season pass every year and also competed with the Rim High School Ski Team.

He learned about the U.S. Adaptive Recreation Center program when he was a patient at Casa Colina Rehab Center in Pomona. They offered to take paraplegic patients to Bear Mtn. to learn to mono ski. By the end of the day, he was skiing the diamond runs. He said it “set him free”! This opportunity changed his life and he had a goal… to make the U.S. Paralympic Ski Team.

He started training with the Winter Park Disabled Ski Team in CO. where he medaled in several Winter National Races. In 2005 he made the U.S. Paralympic Ski Team and competed in the 2006 Paralympic Games in Torino, Italy. He had the opportunity to ski all over the world with the Team.

There will be a Roger Lee Memorial and Luncheon at the Green Valley Lake Club House on February 18th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, there has been a Roger Lee Memorial Fund set up at the U.S.Adaptive Recreation Center at Bear Mountain.
